How are words counted?+

The tool trims the input and splits on any whitespace (spaces, tabs, line breaks). Punctuation that touches a word counts as part of that word.

Are emojis counted as one character?+

Most emojis are one or more UTF-16 code units, so the character count may report more than one character per visible emoji. The word count is unaffected.
