Nepal follows the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar officially, while most of the world — and most digital systems — use the Gregorian (AD) calendar. Bikram Sambat runs roughly 56 years and 8–9 months ahead of AD and has variable month lengths (29–32 days), so a naïve offset never works. This tool uses the official Nepali panchanga day-length table from 1 Baisakh 2000 BS (14 April 1943 AD) through Chaitra 2099 BS (mid-April 2043 AD), which is the range used by the Nepal Ministry of Communications calendar, नेपाली पात्रो, and government agencies for birth certificates, citizenship, and academic records. How many years ahead of AD is the Nepali (Bikram Sambat) calendar?+
Bikram Sambat (BS) runs roughly 56 years and 8–9 months ahead of the Gregorian (AD) calendar. The exact offset shifts during the year because the BS year starts in mid-April (1 Baisakh), while AD starts on 1 January. So from 1 January until around 13–14 April, the BS year is 56 years ahead; from 14–15 April onward, it is 57 years ahead.
