Land in Nepal is measured in two traditional systems that do not overlap. The hilly districts and the Kathmandu valley use Ropani, Aana, Paisa, and Daam; the Terai plains use Bigha, Kattha, and Dhur. Deeds, building plans, and property listings mix these with square feet and square metres, and buyers, engineers, and families splitting inherited land constantly need to move between them. This converter uses the standard definitions — 1 Ropani = 5,476 sq ft and 1 Bigha = 72,900 sq ft — so the whole-number ratios (1 Ropani = 16 Aana, 1 Bigha = 20 Kattha) stay exact.
